“14 – 21 – 30 – 33 – 42 – 45 – 75”
What a peculiar title to an opening article! No, this isn’t the “quarterback” calling out number sets on a play—hike! You’d think that the Chair of the Commonwealth of Israel Foundation (COIF) would be more deliberate—especially when the chants to counter Israel’s materiality grow ever ominous each day. With the rise of anti-Semitism across America’s fruited plain either orchestrated or innately embedded in the psyche of those presently protesting on her campuses, streets, and Congress, one would think those of us here at COIF should tackle these curses hurled at Israel with at least a barrage of theological bombast against the principalities and powers behind the present “why do the heathen rage and imagine a vain thing!”
Sometimes—ask commercial pilots—flying above the turbulence is far wiser than flying through it . . . that’s what this brevity will try to do. Therefore, in the midst of the present distress we are, nevertheless, persuaded that the Deliverer-Messiah is softening hardened hearts, while gathering the called-out ones from the nations unto their fullness (completion) in order that “all Israel will be delivered” for “The deliverer will come out of Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob and this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins” (Rom 11:25-27, Isa. 27:9, excerpts).
In Luke’s gospel—designed as an eyewitness, comprehensive, chronological (or “an orderly account”) with accuracy (“know the certainty”—Lu. 1:1-4)—we are taken from events surrounding the incarnation up through Jesus at 12 years of age wherein we hear: “I had to be in my Father’s house” (Lu. 2:49), unto the commencement of Jesus’ ministry at the Baptism of John (Lu. 1-3:57)—all in copious detail.
Luke’s “orderly account” given to an innocuous person of apparent rank (Theophilus—“Friend of God”) then launches from Jesus’ baptism by John into a comprehensive genealogical accounting “backwards” from Joseph to the creation of Adam. Some 75 names are given apparently laying stress upon the humanity of Jesus, the Son of Man; while Matthew’s gospel commences forward from Abraham to the birth of Christ in 42 generations summed up in Matthew 1:17 as 14 generations from Abraham to David; 14 generations from David to the Babylonian Captivity; and 14 generations from the Babylonian Captivity to the birth of Christ . . . a genealogical accounting whose design must be interpreted with profound spiritual insight in that there appears to be numerical error (purposefully orchestrated for spiritual hermeneutic). Matthew laid stress on Jesus’ Kingship with the number sets of 14 (Joseph’s 7 years of plenty, 7 years of famine but reigning throughout) and the “42” (i.e., 14 + 14 + 14 = 42) which is the number of months Jesus ministered, commencing at about 30 years of age (Lu. 3:23).
When we peruse the genealogies of Luke 3:23-37 we notice the “42” again when we move from Joseph to King David—viz. there are 42 names recorded in this phase of the Son of Man; whereas, in Matthew’s gospel the emphasis is upon the Kingship; however, Luke’s gospel’s “first set” of 42 (starting at the birth [Joseph] of Jesus) to King David, once again lays stress upon Jesus’ work in announcing that the Kingdom of God-Heaven was in their midst. What we are witnessing in Luke’s “42” is the ministry or WORK of the Messiah—“Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry” (Lu. 3:23). When we examine the remainder of the genealogy—from Jesse to Adam—we find that there is a remainder or “33” names. This “33” is Messiah’s insignia in that if, indeed, He were “about 30 years of age” then He was closer to 30 than having had His birthdate closer to 29. By examining the four Passovers recorded in John’s gospel ( [1] John 2:13, 23; [2] 5:1 [by conjecture]; [3] 6:4; [4] 12:1, 13:1, 18:28, 39) we may determine that Jesus’ ministry commenced at 29 years and 9 months of age on the Hebrew Sacred Calendar Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) and extended 6 months into John 2:13, His first Passover, and from His first Passover in 30 A.D. thence an additional 3 Passovers extending His ministry 3 ½ years or 42 months and His age from 29.9 years in 29 A.D. into His 33rd year, and, as well, 33 A.D.
To accord “33” to Jesus’ Person collaborates with King David’s 33-year reign from Jerusalem (2 Sam. 5:5; 1 Chron. 3:4; 29:27)—indeed, the emphasis upon the second set of genealogies in Luke 3 is upon His very PERSON, primarily as the Son of Man: “The son of Man is come to seek and to save that which is lost” (Lu. 19:10). His immediate work on earth (His “ministry”) was as the Incarnate Son of God in the form of a Man—ultimately to be glorified not as the Son of God, Who as the “Everlasting Father” was in eternal fellowship with the very Son of God, but His Son was to be glorified via death and resurrection as the Son of Man:
“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began . . . Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world” (John 17:5, 24).
Why would Jesus have to be glorified since He was already glorified with the Father before the world began, before creation? Because until He was glorified as a Man, the Son of Man, He could not impart that glory to other “men” –
”May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me . . . I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one – I in them and you in me – so that they may be brought to complete unity – Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me” (Jo. 17:21b-23).
That bequeathed/inherited glory was not of the Marriage Accord given via the Covenant identified with the Law of Moses whereupon that glory was enclosed within the Ark of the Covenant—for when the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines from Shiloh it was said: “The glory has departed from Israel” (1 Sam. 4:21-22). No, the Ark’s Glory is no longer written upon stone, nor concealed by a veil upon the face of Moses but is now written by the Spirit on the fleshy tablets of our hearts. It is here and now that with unveiled face we behold like a mirror the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the reflection, the image, of Him Whom we behold, from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Living God (2 Cor. 3:18).
Be it known it is when full deliverance has captured ALL ISRAEL—after the “Wrath of God and the Lamb” has been poured out upon all those “great and small for destroying those who destroy the earth” (Rev. 11:16) that “God’s Temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the Ark of His Covenant . . . the Temple—that is, the tabernacle of the covenant law” (Rev. 15:5) . . . “the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power” . . . and yet, at the conclusion of the Revelation John says: “I did not see a temple in the city (New Jerusalem) because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” (Rev. 21:22).
Could it be that “the tabernacle of the covenant law” is the same as that found in Hebrews 8:13: “By calling this covenant “new,” He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear”? Indeed, the ultimate manifestation of the New Covenant is both now (Heb. 9:15) but in its fullness “. . . the Ark of the Covenant found in the heavenly Temple, the Tabernacle of the Covenant Law” will not only be obsolete, outdated, but disappear?
Could this be when ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE DELIVERED? It seems divinely designed to be just that—the old is vanishing away, “Behold, I make all things new” (Isa. 65:17; Rev. 21:5).
But there is much more within the Work/Ministry and Person of Messiah . . . why? Because 42 + 33 sums to 75. Ever wonder way the tally in Luke 3 adds to 75? I have and perhaps this may appear a bit farfetched but Luke 13:35 appears to give us a clue: “. . . how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you; you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
Yes, it is His Person (33) and Ministry (42) that we see at the inauguration of the Son of Man which totals “75.” But at the terminus of His Person and Ministry as the glorified Son of Man there is another “75” embedded in Daniel 12 . . .
“The Man clothed in linen, Who was above the waters of the river, lifted His right hand and His left hand toward heaven, and I heard Him swear by Him Who lives forever (Note: I affirm this as that Mighty Messenger seen in Revelation 10:1-8 [excerpts]):
“Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, ‘There will be no more delay! But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets” . . . and Daniel surely is in view here.
Both above passages are at the grand and glorious finale at “the time of the end . . . Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand” (Dan. 12:9-10). Do we wish to understand or, as the wicked, we simply do not want to understand, not wish to know? Surely, the thief shall come in the night watches—for “Behold, I come as a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed” (Rev. 16:15)—Jesus’ statement, whereupon we read: “Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon” (Rev. 16:16).
Yes, the Deliverer is coming to purify those to be made spotless and refined, but He is coming the Second Time at the “time of the end” not only to “swing his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested” (Rev. 14:16) but we read: “Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe. The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes an threw them into the great winepress of God wrath” (Rev. 14:18-19) . . . now, the “75” comes into focus . . ..
“From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days [or 30 days beyond the latter half of Daniel’s second half of the Seventh Week or 30 days beyond 1,260 days or ½ the Week] . . . Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days [or an additional 45 days].” These two sets of days total “75” in that 30 + 45 = 75. Can we affirm that His chosen, All Israel, “. . . at that time your people – everyone whose name is found written in the book – will be delivered” at the close of the Week in that their purification and endurance shall last “for a time, times, and half a time . . . When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed” (Dan. 12:7). These terms “time, times, and half a time” are readily in view in Revelation 12:14 when the Woman “. . . would be taken care of for a time, times, and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.”
Alas! For 30 days beyond the 1,260 days, unto the 1,290th day, then the “days of desolation” will terminate. This 30 days speaks of the Wrath of God and the Lamb, as the 10 plagues upon Egypt, are once again poured out upon the “earthlings”—“they that dwell upon the earth” or as Pastor Ray Stedman once said: “They who have their fingers in the dirt of this earth.” But at the conclusion of these 30 days of judgment there are the 45 days culminating in BLESSING. “Blessed is he who waits and comes to the 1,335th Day” and “You will not see my face again until you say, ‘Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord.’”
Thus, at “the end of time” there is this ultimate blessing of the One Who shall “bring in everlasting righteousness, seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place” commencing the Millennial rule and reign of the Son of David upon this earth. That’s the vision—that’s where all this is going. Both Testaments conclude in this amazing scenario as the Deliverer roars out of Zion in a final outburst of redemption and judgment. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
Moreover, within the second genealogical set of “33” there can be found a most wondrous composition of number sets which could easily constitute Messiah’s insignia. I speak of the number sets of “12” and “21” which comprise the sum of “33”—that being from Jesse to Isaac (“12”) the son of Abraham or from the father of King David unto the Son of Promise, Isaac for “. . . those who have faith are children of Abraham . . . All nations will be blessed through you . . . So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith . . . the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say ‘and to seeds,’ meaning many people, but ‘and to your Seed,’ meaning one person, who is Christ” (Gal. 3, excerpts).
Abraham is not the “seed” but Isaac was/is the “son of promise”—even so, the Father begat the Son, the Seed, “to whom the promise referred had come” (Gal. 3:19). Abraham received the promise of a “seed”—the archetype of Messiah . . . “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Gal. 3:29)—do you see it?
Finally, from Abraham to Adam there are 21 generations which comprise the other part of the “33” (or “12” already discussed). This “21” as I have vociferously contended in other writings is in feet (2.1 feet) the measurement of the Hebrew Sacred Cubit of 25.20 inches or 25.20 in. ÷ 12 inches (1 foot) = 2.1 feet. This I affirm is a resemblance or fractal of the degrees of the earth’s weekly/daily rotation of 360° * 7 days = 2520° and can likewise be seen throughout multiple passages in Scripture; furthermore, 12 * 21 = 252 which, again, is a fractal/resemblance of the 25.20 inches of the marvelous Hebrew Royal Cubit. Ultimately, it is the rod or reed in Ezekiel’s hand and in the hand of John which measures the Holy City—the rod being 12.6 ft. or 6 Royal Cubits @ 2.1 ft. each = 12.6 ft. (See: Ezekiel 40:5 and Ezk. 43:13).
The 12.6 ft. rod/reed resembles the 1,260 days implied in Daniel’s 70-Week’s prophecy in that the first half of the week is 3 ½ years/days and the latter half 3 ½ years/days or 3 ½ years each for a full 7 years/7 days with 1,260 days comprising ½ the Week or 30 prophetic days per month X 42 months (viz 3 ½ years) = 1,260 days. Revelation 11:1-3 echoes the same 1,260 days the Two Witnesses shall prophecy and the 42 months of the trampling asunder of the Holy City. Again, these 1,260 days or 42 months is the measurement of Christ’s earthly ministry of 3 ½ years—that’s Who measures us!
THE “42” KINGS OF ISRAEL – LAMBERT DOLPHIN
This Measuring Rod/Reed eventually turns into gold (Rev. 21:15) to measure the New Jerusalem—“Unto the MEASURE of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). Make no mistake—this is the ALL ISRAEL that shall be delivered on that day!
