Part 2: Glory for Service – Taken from ONE LIFE and GLORY Chapters 9,10,11

This is the third booklet (chapters 9, 10, 11) from Henry Hon’s ONE LIFE & GLORY entitled: PART 2 – GLORY FOR SERVICE. How is it that Jesus’ prayer in John 17 concerning His gift to His Ekklesia of GLORY is directly connected to SERVICE? Jesus prayed: “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one – I in them and you in me – so that they may be brought to complete unity” (John 17:23). However, the rest of that prayer–if we follow the purpose of this unity wrought by His gift of glory to His disciples was for this purpose: “Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” In other words His gift of glory would not only bring His disciples into UNITY but out from that unity the world would believe the Father sent the Son into the world – that takes service, outreach to the lost to see that the Father loves His followers just as much as the Father loves the Son! This booklet is filled with how God’s people express His glory to the world around them: “Therefore I GLORY in Christ Jesus in my SERVICE to God. . . I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles, to obey God by what I have said and done” (Rom. 15:17-18).
